LEARNING THROUGH PLAY –
- A FUN LEARNING EXPERIENCE
SCHOOL-READY, CAREER-READY, LIFE-READY
School-ready: By going above and beyond any state and local education requirements, Little Explorers Academy teachers help students become academically proficient and ready for elementary school. When your child’s first-grade teacher asks a question, your child will be better prepared to answer it;
Career-ready: Learning through experience promotes the development of communication, collaboration, creativity and critical-thinking skills. Companies look for these skills in the workforce, so developing those skills early on helps prepare children for success later in life;
Life-ready: Encouraging children to discover and explore their interests empowers them to become happy, confident, self-aware, empathetic and self-directed with a lifelong love of learning. Whether your child has an interest in astronomy, writing, cooking or another subject, he or she should develop the drive to independently seek out information to fulfill that curiosity.
LEARNING THROUGH PLAY
Think about all the times you pretended to be a doctor, a chef, a parent or a pro athlete when you were a child. As you enjoyed exploring that role, you were figuring out how different people behave and learning through play. A play-based curriculum allows children the freedom to have fun while discovering and exploring the world and their interests.
To support learning through play, our Learning Program includes the following:
Fun, hands-on activities that allow children to learn through experience;
Customized lesson plans that the teachers develop based on the children’s interests and adapt to the children’s developmental needs;
Warm, nurturing classrooms that promote a passion for literacy, science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics;
A daily schedule that ensures children have time for independent exploration and discovery every day;
Age-appropriate interactive technologies, such as interactive whiteboards that support collaborative and meaningful learning without replacing creative play, exploration or physical activity.
Our Learning Program is designed around the following core values:
Play and Exploration: Children learn best by doing, which includes playing, working on projects and experiencing the everyday challenges of life.
Diverse Programming: Our curriculum balances educational content with free play, life skills, and an introduction to diverse practices, jobs, sports and hobbies.
Student Empowerment: The teachers encourage children to make their own choices, to explore their own passions and interests and to bounce back from failure, which is essential to developing integrity of character, executive function and social-emotional intelligence.
21st Century Skills: We emphasize both academics and the development of cognitive skills, including communication, critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and the executive functions, to help children learn to succeed in diverse environments.
STEAM and Literacy: The teachers introduce Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics and Literacy skills so that children become familiar with and passionate about them.
Quality Questions and Encouragement: The teachers encourage children to explore their environment autonomously and challenge children through open-ended questions.
Individualization: The teachers meet each child’s individual needs by modifying the curriculum to the developmental level of each child.
Safety and Security: We provide a safe, nurturing environment so that children feel comfortable.
Research: Our programs align with cutting-edge learning research and are modified based on program reviews and student assessments.
Outdoor Time: By balancing classroom lessons with outdoor activities, the students enjoy the benefits of exploring nature.
Risk and Failure: We allow children to face risk and overcome failure to develop confidence, resilience, determination and self-awareness.
OUR PROGRAM IS POWERED BY STEAM, FUELED BY FUN
STEAM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) has become a vital part of early childhood education because these subjects help prepare children for life in the 21st century. STEAM-related jobs are included in the fastest-growing industries in the U.S. economy (Baird-Remba, Guey & Lubin, 2013). The number of STEAM-related jobs is expected to increase by the time your children grow up and join the workforce.
We introduce STEAM early on to help children develop an interest in and passion for these subjects, which may encourage them to pursue STEAM-related careers. STEAM learning also helps children develop communication, collaboration, creativity and critical-thinking skills, which are valuable in any career path.

CRUCIAL TO A WELL-ROUNDED EDUCATION
We enhance our play-based curriculum with a wide range of enrichment programs that are designed to meet the individual needs of your child and help your child become mentally and physically well-rounded. These programs, which are offered every day at no additional cost, are part of our learning program and provide opportunities for your child to learn by doing.
THE IMPORTANCE OF LEARNING THROUGH EXPERIENCE
Our enrichment programs encourage children to make their own choices, solve problems and explore their passions and interests independently through fun, hands-on activities. Experiential learning helps children develop perseverance and social-emotional intelligence, making them school-ready, career-ready and life-ready.
